Hi, I’m Elijah Bergado, the creator of Comic Bread Co.
I like drawing comics, telling stories, and building fun worlds with characters that make people laugh. When I’m not sketching or working on new ideas, you’ll probably find me on the mat training and competing in judo, wrestling, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
My Story
I started making comics because I love drawing weird characters, telling fun stories, and turning random ideas into something people can laugh at or get inspired by. This site is where I share my artwork, projects, and anything new I’m building, sketching, or dreaming up next.
When I’m not working on comics, you’ll usually find me on the mat training and competing in judo, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I train with Nakano Judo Academy in the San Francisco Bay Area and compete in tournaments across California and even internationally, from local weekend events to competitions as far as Cuba. Whether it’s a big throw or a new comic panel, I’m always chasing that “let’s try it and see what happens” feeling.

Beyond Comics
When Elijah Bergado isn’t drawing comics or building new characters for Comic Bread Co., he’s usually on a judo mat somewhere.
Elijah is a competitive youth judoka, wrestler, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grappler training with Nakano Judo Academy in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2022, he has competed in dozens of local, state, national, and international judo tournaments, earning multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals along the way. From California events to international competitions in Cuba and Hawaii, he loves the challenge of stepping onto the mat, testing his throws and groundwork, and learning something new every match.

Along the way, Elijah has had the opportunity to train, attend clinics, or share the mat with world class athletes and Olympic level competitors including Amit Elor, Kosei Inoue, Ralph Gracie, Travis Stevens, Jimmy Pedro, Caio Terra, Jeon Ki-Young, Peter Paltchik, Marti Malloy, Keiji Suzuki, Hiro Hiraoka, and many others.
For Elijah, judo is part competition, part adventure, and part way to challenge himself outside the sketchbook. Win or lose, he’s always ready for the next match.
